Job Description:

Coordinates outreach and provides direct support for high school and homeschool students earning college credit through the CollegeNow program. Oversees the CollegeNow Online program and the Early Degree option. Minimum Qualifications:

Job Description:

Tompkins Cortland Community College has embarked on a new era of hospitality education by creating a unique educational environment, Farm to Bistro. A new culinary arts program and state of the art facilities have been added as a focus program of the College.  A full-time, temporary Culinary Arts faculty position for a professional educator in the industry to teach courses is needed.  Teaching load includes 15 credits per semester, which may include day, evening, and online. Courses include culinary arts fundamentals, fresh food handling and seasonal menu development, food pairing, food preservation techniques, garde manger, work preparedness, service standards, sanitation and safety, and competition preparation & presentation, and establishing protocol and procedures in adherence with industry best practices. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues to develop and continually update course curricula and coordinate student experiential learning. Activities will also include culinary arts leadership, developing and maintaining hospitality and culinary industry relationships. Leadership with globally focused programming includes study abroad partnerships.  Additional responsibilities include student recruitment, academic advisement, participation in college committees and community organizations, and other duties assigned by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts or related field with a minimum of 5 years of industry and teaching experience. Flexible schedule and a demonstrated commitment to fostering partnerships among diverse communities. Use of local food resources to create menu items from scratch. Valid driver’s license is required.

Desired Qualifications:

Master’s degree in related field and 10 years food and beverage management experience.  Affiliation with American Culinary Federation, with credentials such as Certified Executive Chef or Educator.  Preference is for a candidate with credentials from an accredited Culinary Arts program and who is a Servsafe Instructor/Proctor.  Competency for coordinating the needs of educational culinary arts lessons with the needs of an operational restaurant.  Experience in hospitality P&L, inventory control, cost containment, and events is desired. Understanding of the needs of students within a community college setting is also preferred.

Expected Hiring Salary Range:

Fitness Center Assistant

Tompkins Cortland Community College’s culinary center, Coltivare, houses two academic degree programs: Culinary Arts and Wine Marketing. These facilities include a public restaurant with 110 seats, event space for up to 200 guests, a demo/wine amphitheater and a Culinary Lab for student and community learning. The culinary center provides opportunities for students to explore and be trained in a wide range of careers in the food and beverage industry. In addition to the Culinary Center in downtown Ithaca, the Farm to Bistro project includes a working organic farm on property adjacent to the College’s Dryden campus for students in the and Sustainable Farming and Food Systems program. The farm also provides produce for use at Coltivare.

Job Description:

Works as part of a team providing ideal service for our guests.  The host/hostess is most often the first employee a guest sees when entering our restaurant and therefore must greet all guests in a professional, energetic and sincere manner that sets the tone for an ideal experience at Coltivare.  Greets and seats guests and assists wait staff as necessary to provide legendary guest satisfaction.  Manages the restaurant telephone and assists guests with retail purchases.  The host/hostess must adhere to all Coltivare service standards as outlined in the standards of service and order of service.  Acts as an ambassador of Coltivare and TC3 and knowledgeable of the culinary arts and sustainable farming degree programs and continuing education programs; acts proactively to cross-market these programs to all guests.  Responsible for upholding all of Coltivare’s service standards and assisting the Management Team in meeting the educational mission of the TC3 Culinary Center at Coltivare and the College while ensuring maximum guest satisfaction resulting in overall guest loyalty, student success, staff satisfaction and revenue growth.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma and one to three months related experience and/or training.  Must have experience that provides evidence that the candidate has a good understanding of the role of the Host in providing outstanding customer service; the ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing; and the ability to exercise mature judgment.

Expected Hiring Salary Range:

$10.40 - $12 per hour

Responsible for upholding all of Coltivare’s service standards and assisting the Management Team in meeting the educational mission of the TC3 Culinary Center at Coltivare and the College.

The TC3 Farm Opportunities

The TC3 Farm, located in Dryden, NY, grows approximately 3 acres of organically grown fruits and vegetables.  Since 2014, our produce has been distributed to the community through CSA, Farm Stands, Campus Dining, Coltivare and local restaurants.  The Farm strives to create a fun, yet efficient and challenging work environment.  The Farm is an integral part of an multi-faceted operation that supports the academic programs of Tompkins Cortland Community College by growing, marketing, and distributing organic produce and providing a hands-on learning lab environment for students.

Job Description:

Assists with greenhouse production including seeding, watering and planting crops.  Handles a wide variety of fruits and vegetables at harvest and post harvest.  Assists with transplanting greenhouse, hoophouse and field crops.  Participates in a broad range of field tasks including weeding, mulching, trellising, hand hoeing, irrigation, pest management and use of row covers.  Serves in a rotation of farm chores (cleaning the bathroom, sweeping the barn, etc.).  Works alongside student interns.  May be responsible for recordkeeping.  May take a lead role in the supervision of volunteers.  Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

A demonstrated commitment to positive work ethic with the ability to pay attention to detail while working efficiently and with enthusiasm for growing healthy food.  Ability to work alone or as part of a team.  Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and work in an environment with exposure to all types of weather conditions.  A valid drivers license. Availability to work occasional hours on Saturdays during the summer/fall months.

Desired Qualifications:

rior farm experience preferred, but not required.
