College Celebrates International Education Week

Tompkins Cortland Community College will host a series of activities as part of International Education Week.

Saturday, November 11 | 6. to 8 p.m. | Cayuga Lake Hall

Come and represent your country in ResLife’s first annual rice cook off. There are likely as many ways to prepare rice as there are countries in the world - check out different versions of rice dishes and vote on your favorites. Sponsored by the Connection Project.

What is DACA & Who are “Dreamers”? Talk and Q&A
Monday, November 13 | Noon to 1 p.m. | Room 210

What is this policy and how might changes to this policy affect our community? Immigration Lawyer Sandra Bruno talks about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy, and local Dreamers discuss their experiences under DACA.

Study Abroad Student Panel

Listen to current TC3 students share their experiences studying abroad with one of our short-term, faculty-led programs in Nicaragua, Ireland, Cambodia, Italy, and Colombia. Co-moderators: Angela Martin and Kelly Wessell

Taste of the Caribbean and Cultural Fair
Wednesday, November 15 | Noon to 1:30 p.m. | Cafeteria/Student Center

Try popular dishes from the Caribbean in the cafeteria and then join us for free dessert and fun in the Student Center! The Dance Team and the Afrikan Caribbean Association will be putting on a show you won’t want to miss, and there will be a number of cultural booths hosted by students with demonstrations, games, music, and information about their home countries. Winners of raffle prizes will be announced at the end of the event!

Caribbean Cup Soccer Tournament:
Wednesday, November 15 | 4 p.m. | BorgWarner Morse TEC Field House

Join us for a 7 vs 7, co-ed indoor soccer game! Teams will be formed at the beginning of the tournament and will draw flags to represent different Caribbean countries. Winners will receive free Tompkins Cortland T-shirt courtesy of the Bookstore. Sponsored by Athletics and Recreation.

Thursday, November 16 | 8 to 10 p.m. | The Forum

Proceeds from concessions sold by the Afrikan Caribbean Club will go towards hurricane relief efforts in the Caribbean.
