June 27, 2017

Eight Tompkins Cortland Community College student-athletes have been honored with a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic Student-Athlete Award. Bridger Carreau (Lassiter H.S./Marietta, Ga.), Tyler Clark (Odessa-Montour H.S./Odessa), Anasah DeMember (Elmira H.S./Elmira), David Rodriguez (Grover Cleveland H.S./Ridgewood), Syed Shah (Pakistan), Collyn Shippos (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca), Joseph Sparacio (Ward Melville H.S./South Setauket), and Antonio Triana (New Roots Charter/Cortland) were recognized for their excellence in the classroom.

Carreau, Shah, and Triana each received “Second Team” designation, which goes to students with a GPA between 3.80 and 3.99. Carreau was a member of the lacrosse team; Shah played men’s soccer; and Triana was a golfer for the Panthers.

Clark, DeMember, Rodriguez, Shippos, and Sparacio each earned “Third Team” status, which goes to students with a GPA between 3.60 and 3.79.
