Advising

The Office of Student Success: Advising, Career & Transfer supports you throughout your educational experience at Tompkins Cortland, from enrollment through graduation. We are located in room 101, the Enrollment Services Center, on campus.

Most new students first meet with advisors at their START session.

  • During START you are introduced to a variety of campus resources and begin to learn about academic expectations with the goal of meeting each of our Student Learning Outcomes for new students.
  • Scheduling START is a crucial step in the new student enrollment process.
    • Online orientation, in-person New Student Orientation, and "Weeks of Welcome" provide other opportunities for you to learn about our campus culture and student expectations before the semester begins and right after classes start.

The Student Success team meets with part-time students, and also works with you if you fall below the College’s academic standards. We offer a variety of advising resources to help with your academic planning.

Once the semester begins, faculty academic advisors work with all full-time students whose interests are related to their academic discipline.
