Welcome to the Tompkins Cortland Community! 

For All New and Transfer Students

  1. Pre-online New Student Orientation by Friday, January 19
  2. In-Person Orientation (Register here) on Saturday, January 20

Important dates

Friday, January 19: New Student Residential Move-In Day, noon-5 p.m. (check ins after 5 p.m. will need to call the RA on duty)
Saturday, January 20: In-person New Student Orientation, time TBD. New Student Residential Move-In resumes, 8 a.m.-noon (check ins after noon will need to call the RA on duty)
Sunday, January 21: Returning Student Move-In (any student requests related to move-in need to utilize the RA on duty)
Monday, January 22: First day of Classes
Wednesday, January 31: Get Connected Fair. Learn more about local resources and Tompkins Cortland clubs, activities, and student support services

**While Orientation is primarily for new students, all students are invited to join Orientation Week Activities!

Before New Student Orientation, you had an initial START meeting with an advisor to review your academic expectations and goals for the upcoming semester.Your next step towards college success is completing the Online Orientation Modules before In-Person Orientation. These modules are required for all new and transfer students to learn about our college resources and what Tompkins Cortland provides!

New Student Orientation schedule

TC3 Card

To obtain your TC3 Card, submit a photo via email to card@tompkinscortland.edu. Please refer to the photo guidelines listed below.

Please note, ID Cards will be picked up at move-in for students living on campus in our TC3 residence halls. Photos are due no later than 8/16/24 for resident students. Commuter student cards can be picked up at welcome events or will be mailed to the permanent address on file.

Photo Requirements:

  • Plain light color background
  • Must be a color photo
  • Recent (no older than 6 months)
  • JPEG (JPG) file format, less than 1 MB in size - If your picture is too big, use the Pic Resize website to adjust your photo
  • Portrait style, eyes to camera, head-centered with extra space on all sides
  • NO other people, hats, profile shots, sunglasses, gestures, or face coverings allowed
  • Only photos emailed from your TC3 email account will be accepted.
  • Photos that do not meet these requirements will not be processed. 
  • If your photo was not accepted, you will be notified via email.
  • Be sure you like your photo. There is a $15 fee for a replacement Student ID/Dining Card.
