College Starts Virtual Donation Drive for Child Development Council
Tompkins Cortland Community College has started a Virtual Donation Drive to support the Child Development Council of Central New York. The Child Development Council provides resources, support services, information, and referrals to parents, child care providers and the community, serving both Tompkins and Cortland counties.
The donation drive will provide supplies to child care centers across both counties. “The availability of affordable childcare is vital to many of our students, as well as the community at large. That’s why I am so proud that we have the Arthur Kuckes Child Care Center on our campus, and why I am proud to support the Child Development Council with our Virtual Donation Drive,” said College President Orinthia Montague. “The work of the Council supports our center and child care providers throughout Tompkins and Cortland Counties, which in turn makes our community stronger. The College shares a similar mission as the Child Development Council in that we are here to help our community thrive. And much like the College, investing in the work of Child Development Council is an investment in the future of our community.”
The Child Development Council is a valuable resource to the College, not only for the Arthur Kuckes Child Care Center, but for students and faculty in the Early Childhood degree program as well. The Donation Drive features two ways for people to provide support: purchasing needed items through Amazon, using the Wish List created by the staff at the Child Development Council, or by donating funds directly to the Council. Details on both options are below.
“This has been a challenging time to care for our littles!” said Sue Dale-Hall, CEO of the Child Development Council. “Throughout the pandemic, families are juggling so much: work and caring for children at home, lost wages, child care and uncertainty about what our "new normal" will look like. TC3's Virtual Donation Drive will not only help meet children's basic needs, but it will help parents and caregivers engage with their kids, lifting spirits as we settle into the spring and summer.”
There are two ways to help:
Purchase items from an Amazon Wish List for TOMPKINS COUNTY or CORTLAND COUNTY.
The staff at the Child Development Council has created wish lists for their most needed items. Use the links above for the county you want to support, peruse the needed items, and add them to your cart. Be sure to choose the correct address when you checkout so the items will be shipped directly to the Child Development Council Office in Tompkins or Cortland County. The item will then be shipped directly to the organization and then distributed to local child care centers as needed.
