Information about events associated with Constitution Day

Join us as we celebrate Constitution Day! The Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787, forming the United States of America. Constitution Day is marked on that date every year by schools and colleges across the country.

Activities here at Tompkins Cortland on Monday, Sept. 17, will emphasize the struggle faced by every generation to  create “a more perfect union.” Students and staff are invited to play the Constitution Quiz in the Library between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. You may be surprised at some of the ways the Constitution has been interpreted by the Supreme Court to expand, and limit, the rights of citizens. Plus: You have a chance to win one of three $50 VISA gift cards, just for playing.

Also from 10 to 3 in the Library, you can get registered to vote. If you want to vote in the 2018 election this November, time is running out to get registered.

At 4 p.m. in the Student Center lounge, the day will culminate with an airing of the documentary 13th with dinner and a moderated talk-back afterwards.
