Yards for Yeardley

Main Campus Noon to 4 p.m.

Walk inside on campus as part of the One Love Yards for Yeardley event and join the hundreds of Tompkins Cortland community members who have participated in the past.

When:  February 7, Noon to 4 p.m.

Where: Main Building Second Floor Hallways, starting outside the President's Office

Why:  This event was created by the One Love Foundation to increase awareness of domestic/dating violence.

The event is named after Yeardley Love, who died at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, just three weeks before their graduation from the University of Virginia in May 2010. Later that year, One Love was formed in her memory to work to ensure everyone understands the difference between a healthy and unhealthy relationship.

Started in December 2014 by three young women on the Boston College and University of Virginia lacrosse teams, Yards for Yeardley has become a community awareness and activation event through which individuals across the country have rallied to honor Yeardley and support One Love’s mission to end relationship abuse by educating young people about healthy and unhealthy relationships.
