Come walk some laps inside our campus buildings to help the College make it two straight years reaching our goal in the One Love Yards for Yeardley event. Last year Tompkins Cortland set a goal of 500,000 yards and more than doubled that goals while walking around our indoor educational path.
Yeardley Love died at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, just three weeks before their graduation from the University of Virginia in May 2010. Later that year, One Love was formed in her memory to work to ensure everyone understands the difference between a healthy and unhealthy relationship.
Started in December 2014 by three young women on the Boston College and University of Virginia lacrosse teams, Yards for Yeardley has become a community awareness and activation event through which individuals across the country have rallied to honor Yeardley and support One Love’s mission to end relationship abuse by educating young people about healthy and unhealthy relationships.
The Tompkins Cortland walk will start in front of the President's Office (room 221). The walking path will travel around the main building and into the athletics facility before returning to the hallway in front of the President's Office. Along the walk, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about healthy relationships and some of the resources available on campus in our community. There is no fundraising or preregistration required - everyone is welcome to get involved!
