Dr. Colleen Simpson brings a passion to serve community colleges and uses education as a vehicle for elevation and transformation.  Her career in education spans three decades and is centered on leading teams to develop a shared vision to support student success and academic excellence.  Through her equity and student-centered lens, she believes all students will succeed.

Dr. Colleen Simpson currently serves as the Vice President of Student Services and Regional Learning Centers at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC).  She currently provides a visionary and inspirational leadership to 3 campuses and 5 Regional Learning Centers by building on current academic innovation, fostering a “student-ready” experience, and addressing the educational, economic and workforce development needs of the region.  

Prior to joining NWTC, Dr. Simpson served as the administrator overseeing Retention and Student Success at Bronx Community College (CUNY)—leading and managing a comprehensive program of services promoting access, retention, engagement, and completion.  She worked closely with faculty and department chairs to develop and support a shared vision for student success.  Dr. Simpson has also held prior higher education administrative positions in the areas of Enrollment Management/Student Affairs, Registrar, Counseling, Career Services and Academic Affairs.  She has developed and taught courses on First Year Success, Critical Thinking, and Academic and Personal Development.  Her career also includes teaching as an adjunct faculty member at the College of New Rochelle–Graduate School Division of Psychology and Counseling.

Dr. Simpson has been the recipient of grants and many awards.  She has presented at local and national conferences focusing on student success, retention, enrollment management and academic innovation.  She is a member of the American Association of Community Colleges and the National Council on Black American Affairs.  She currently serves on several boards—Big Brother Big Sister, The Boys and Girls Club and N.E.W. Charter School of Innovation.  Outside of academia, Dr. Simpson believes in giving back to the community and finds joy in engaging in initiatives to support and mentor students.

Dr. Simpson earned her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, Administration and Policy from Fordham University, M.S.Ed. in Higher Education Administration and B.B.A. in International Marketing both from Bernard M. Baruch College, CUNY.
