Dr. Flaten earned his Ph.D. in political history at Fordham University in 1999 and joined the College's teaching staff in 2003. He teaches a wide variety of history and political science offerings.

Special projects

Dr. Flaten is a returned Peace Corps Volunteer who served in Guatemala 1987-1990. He has a continuing interest in international study abroad courses. Each January he conducts a two week course and travels through Guatemala. He also leads a two week trip to Colombia each May.
