Gary is a Certified Public Accountant, a Chartered Global Management Accountant, and a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the NY State Society of CPAs. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Alaska Anchorage and Master of Science in Accounting from SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica/Rome. Prior to becoming a full-time faculty member, Gary worked as a CPA for an international CPA firm in the audit, tax, and management advisory services departments; Internal Auditor for a four-year university; Internal Audit Manager for a major county government; and Controller/401(k) & Pension Plan Administrator for an international design firm. He teaches various courses including Principles of Accounting I & II, Intermediate Accounting I & II, Cost Accounting, and Individual Federal Tax.
In addition to teaching, advising students, and participating on college service committees, Gary is involved in filmmaking and the local arts community. He and his wife, Lisa, also a professor at Tompkins Cortland, make short films together and volunteer with the Syracuse International Film Festival and other arts organizations.
