Moricette Named SUNY Fellow
Tompkins Cortland Community College Associate Professor Janita Moricette has been named a SUNY Accessibility Advocates and Allies Fellow. The second cohort of the fellowship program was announced by State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor John B. King Jr. earlier this week. A total of 11 faculty fellows from across the SUNY System will work to expand digital accessibility and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) practices across their respective campuses. The new cohort of fellows will build on the lessons learned from the work done by the inaugural SUNY AAA fellows who started in January 2025.
“There is a place at SUNY for everyone and we work tirelessly to ensure our campuses are inclusive and welcoming for every student,” said King. “The work of the Accessibility Advocates and Allies faculty fellows is essential to ensuring SUNY faculty have the resources they need to foster a supportive and accessible environment for students with disabilities. Congratulations to the faculty fellows selected for this year’s program, which will help advance accessibility throughout the SUNY System.”
"Accessibility and inclusion are core to how I teach, advise, and serve my students. Through this fellowship, I'll be deepening my knowledge of Universal Design for Learning and accessible design, collaborating with colleagues across SUNY, and bringing forward resources and practices that support the diverse needs of our learners,” said Morricette. “I pursued this fellowship because I believe accessibility is a responsibility we hold as educators, and it's vital to the success of every student we serve. I want to help ensure that every student has equitable access to learning at Tompkins Cortland Community College and across SUNY. This opportunity allows me to advocate, learn, and continue growing as a leader in inclusive education so that every student feels seen, supported, and positioned for success in the classroom and beyond."
The SUNY Accessibility Advocates and Allies Faculty Fellowship Program is co-led by the SUNY Office of Student Success in partnership with the Provost’s Office. This year's faculty fellows will build on the success of last year's program to continue establishing a community of faculty leaders and champions committed to promoting and growing digital accessibility practices in and out of the classroom on their campuses.
