The newly inaugurated Cortland County Poet Laureate visited Tompkins Cortland Community College on Tuesday. Phil Asaph shared some of his work and talked about his journey to becoming the first to hold the title in Cortland County.

The Cortland County Legislature created the post and Asaph was appointed to the position earlier this year, making Cortland County the smallest county in the state with a poet laureate. Serving as an ambassador for poetry and literary arts, Asaph was invited to campus to speak with faculty and students, and to sign copies of his collection of works that will be available in the College’s library.
