The Micron Regional Summer Chip Camp returned to Tompkins Cortland Community College August 10-12. Nearly 100 rising sixth and seventh graders from around the region took part in the three days of STEM activities.

The Chip Camp was sponsored by Micron, TST BOCES, OCM BOCES, and TC3. It featured hands-on  experiences in building small robots, coding LED traffic lights, exploring the nano-sized world, creating multimedia art, flying drones, transforming everyday objects into computer controllers, and digging into the math of semiconductors. In addition to sessions led by TC3 faculty, the camp welcomed local businesses to campus for a STEM Expo where campers could learn about career paths while taking part in entertaining experiments and activities. Students also took visits to Ithaca for “behind the sciences” tours of the Cornell Nanoscale Facility and the Sciencenter.
