Greetings from Dryden, New York!

Our dedicated Office of Global Initiatives is focused on assisting students studying in the United States on an F-1 or J-1 visa. We support students through their entire TC3 career and beyond. From the admission and orientation, to advising through graduation, we are here for you!

Programming for International Students

The Global Office is charged with fostering TC3’s mission of creating an inclusive and welcoming environment. To do that, staff develops programs that allow international students to celebrate their unique countries and cultures while simultaneously offering domestic students a chance to gain a more informed and worldly perspective. Our programs may include cultural festivals and celebrations, regular International Coffee Hours, panel discussions, off-campus excursions, global games and food events.

Students may take the lead in developing programs or work with Global Office staff to meet the needs of current students.

Immigration & Advising

The Global Office is proud of the personalized attention we are able to provide to students in navigating the restrictions and benefits associated with their F-1 or J-1 visa. Our staff is dedicated to ensuring international students understand how to maintain their legal status during their studies. This includes assistance with:

Form I-20 Issuance & Visa Assistance
On-Campus Employment
Social Security
Filing U.S. Federal Income Tax
Off-Campus Employment Authorization
Travel to Canada

Orientation

At the beginning of each fall and spring semester, the Global Office holds a special orientation for new incoming international students. International first-year students, transfer students and exchange student are required to attend this orientation. Topics include maintaining compliance with your student visa status, assistance opening a bank account, tips for navigating the American education system, wellness services available on campus, and information on the many academic resources and social opportunities on campus!

Arrival week also includes shopping for your apartment and orientation with the public bus system. Please check your email from TC3 closer to your arrival date for more details.

On-Campus Employment

New F-1 and J-1 students are eligible for on-campus employment as soon as their program of study begins. The Global Office assists students with each step of the on-campus employment process, including instructions on what to bring to the Social Security Administration and how to get there.

Internships & Post-Graduation Employment

The Global Office assists F-1 international students in receiving work authorization for off-campus internships or post-graduate work opportunities in their field of study. Our staff can assist with the necessary steps students must follow for work authorization through Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT).
