Transfer Requirements
Hobart and William Smith Colleges (HWS) guarantees acceptance of TC3 students who complete an A.S. or A.A.S degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Students must have at least a 2.70 cumulative GPA at TC3 for acceptance to HWS.
Eligibility & Terms
- Students who complete an A.S or A.A.S at TC3 may enter HWS with junior status and will automatically be considered to have met the General education requirements. However, depending on the major, completing a bachelor’s degree in two years may not be possible.
- Most 3-, 4-, or 5-credit courses in which a student earns C– (1.7) or higher will transfer toward the 32 courses required for graduation at HWS, up to a maximum of 16 courses. No more than seven high school courses may apply toward transfer.
- All HWS students, including transfer students, must complete a minor or a second major in addition to their primary major.
- To graduate from HWS, transfer students must complete at least 16 courses at HWS with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. A minor or a second major must be completed in addition to the primary HWS major.
- Transfer students meet with HWS advising staff upon enrollment to plan completion of HWS integrated goals and major requirements.
Benefits & Advantages
TC3 students accepted with a GPA above 2.7 are guaranteed a minimum scholarship of $30,500 per year.
HWS application will be waived and the application will be given priority status.
Notes
HWS offers a wide range of majors open to TC3 transfer students, including an Individual Studies major allowing students to design a customized program with faculty guidance.
