Fee Descriptions

Student Life Fee

The Faculty Student Association (FSA) meets the social, cultural, recreational, educational, and support services needs of students through various programs and activities. The student life fee underwrites the cost of providing all co-curricular activities on campus.  These activities include student government association, student clubs and organizations, educational and social programming, athletics, recreation sports, child care services, fitness center membership and the TC3 Card fee. This mandatory fee is paid by students enrolled in day and evening courses on campus.

TC3 Card Fee

Every student is required to pay a TC3 Card service fee each semester. The TC3 Card serves as your identification, a library card, and admits you to many events and programs sponsored by the FSA. The TC3 Card even works for campus services such as the bookstore, cafeteria, vending machines, computer lab printers, library copier, residence life housing access, and residence life laundry. You should carry your TC3 Card whenever you are on campus.

Matriculation Fee

The matriculation fee is a one-time charge to matriculated students that covers your degree audit, access to unofficial transcripts through myINFO, and the cost of your cap and gown for the commencement ceremony.

Technology Fee

The technology fee helps provide hardware, software, access to the Internet, computer licensing fees, and consumable supplies associated with TC3 student use of computers. TC3 students enjoy access to computers in computer labs, The Baker Center for Learning, the library, and student computer labs at the Ithaca and Cortland extension centers.

International Student Health Insurance -required (international students)

Accident and health insurance is mandatory for all international students on F-1 and J-1 visas. Detailed information regarding coverage and cost is available in the Global Initiatives Office.

Open Educational Resources (OER) Fee

Some courses may have an OER fee associated with them. This fee is in lieu of a textbook and other required course materials, and covers the cost on any licensing that may be associated with the platforms used for open educational resources. The fee also covers the cost of developing and maintaining appropriate materials to support course curriculum.

Course Specific Fees

Some courses will have additional fees due to unique costs associated with that course. Such fees include course travel, instructional materials or textbooks, fees paid to outside organizations such as membership fees or exam fees, specialized equipment, and specialized lab fees. Additional fees are noted in individual course descriptions.
