Transfer Requirements

Eligibility and Admission

Students shall apply to TC3 using the standard TC3 admissions application. At the time of application to TC3, students may elect to participate in the Dual Admission Program with SUNY Cortland for the academic programs identified in this agreement.

Students participating in this program are guaranteed transfer admission to SUNY Cortland upon successful completion of the designated associate degree and attainment of the minimum GPA requirement outlined below. Guaranteed admission under this agreement applies to the corresponding SUNY Cortland bachelor's degree program identified in this agreement, provided all program-specific admission and progression requirements are met.

Academic Requirements and Standing

Students must complete an approved Associate in Science (A.S.) degree program at TC3 with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 to be eligible for full admission to SUNY Cortland. Students must remain in good academic and disciplinary standing while enrolled at TC3.

Upon transfer, students will enter SUNY Cortland with junior standing and will typically require four semesters (two academic years) to complete the corresponding bachelor's degree.

Transfer and Progression

Participating students will transition directly to SUNY Cortland if they meet the associate degree and GPA requirements outlined in this agreement. No separate SUNY Cortland application or admissions deposit will be required for the applicable transfer term.

Students in their final semester prior to graduation will have their academic eligibility status reviewed and approved by Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3) in accordance with Terms of this agreement. Once academic eligibility has been verified, TC3 will provide SUNY Cortland with a list of eligible students who will transition to SUNY Cortland for the following academic year.

Students who initially enrolled in the Dual Admission Program will receive an official letter of admission from SUNY Cortland during their final semester at TC3. The admission letter will confirm the entry term, academic major, and next steps for enrollment.

SUNY Cortland will provide orientation and pre-enrollment advising prior to the student's first semester of study.

Student Privileges and Benefits While at TC3

Dual Admission students may be granted access to select SUNY Cortland facilities, services, and activities, including library privileges and other opportunities approved by SUNY Cortland Student Affairs.

SUNY Cortland will communicate available programming to Dual Admission students throughout each semester. Such programming may include library access, campus activities, student life events, and athletics events.

Academic Advising and Student Support

Each student will be offered advising services from both institutions to provide coordinated academic and transfer planning.

TC3 and SUNY Cortland will collaborate on advising, information sessions, and transition programming to support timely degree completion. Students will have access to advising resources and transfer-planning tools from both institutions throughout the transition period.

After a student completes the associate degree and fulfills all SUNY Cortland enrollment requirements, orientation and academic advising will occur prior to the student's first semester. Once enrolled at SUNY Cortland, students will be assigned academic advisors and will continue to receive advising support through completion of the bachelor's degree.
