Teacher – Adolescence Education
This program is designed to give you the first two years of a Bachelor’s degree.

Teach and inspire middle and high school students in grades 7–12. With strong demand for qualified teachers across New York and beyond, this program helps you build deep knowledge in your subject area along with the practical skills to manage classrooms and engage diverse learners. You’ll gain experience in lesson planning, communication, and adolescent development—so you’re ready to make a lasting impact in education or continue toward teacher certification.
Where You’ll Go
Middle School Teachers
- Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
- Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- Instruct through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations in one or more subjects, such as English, mathematics, or social studies.
- Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
Educational, Guidance, and Career Counselors and Advisors
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- Counsel students regarding educational issues, such as course and program selection, class scheduling and registration, school adjustment, truancy, study habits, and career planning.
- Counsel individuals or groups to help them understand and overcome personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their educational or vocational situations.
- Provide crisis intervention to students when difficult situations occur at schools.
Secondary School Teachers
- Instruct through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations in one or more subjects, such as English, mathematics, or social studies.
- Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
- Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
