Biotechnology
This program is designed to give you a specific certification that can be immediately applied to your career.
What You'll Learn
Contribute to innovation in health and science through advanced lab research and analysis.
Train in laboratory methods used to explore genetics, microbiology, and molecular biology. Through hands-on experience in DNA analysis, bioprocessing, and quality control, you’ll develop the precision and technical skills employers expect in modern bioscience labs. You’ll also learn data documentation, safety procedures, and teamwork—preparing you for careers in research, pharmaceuticals, or biomanufacturing, or for transfer to advanced biotechnology programs.
Where You’ll Go
Quality Control Analysts
- Interpret test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, and make recommendations on appropriateness of data for release.
- Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of in-process materials, raw materials, environmental samples, finished goods, or stability samples.
- Calibrate, validate, or maintain laboratory equipment.
- Perform visual inspections of finished products.
Biomass Plant Technicians
- Operate biomass fuel-burning boiler or biomass fuel gasification system equipment in accordance with specifications or instructions.
- Perform tests of water chemistry in boilers.
- Operate high-pressure steam boiler or water chiller equipment for electrical cogeneration operations.
- Operate equipment to heat biomass, using knowledge of controls, combustion, and firing mechanisms.
