Communication & Media Arts
This program is designed to give you the first two years of a Bachelor’s degree.
What You'll Learn
Apply creative and technical expertise to produce impactful media across multiple platforms.
Develop creative and professional communication skills for the modern media landscape. Courses in public speaking, writing, design, and digital production help you learn how to craft messages that inform, persuade, and inspire. You’ll gain hands-on experience using industry tools while preparing for careers or transfer opportunities in public relations, journalism, marketing, or media production.
Where You’ll Go
Producers and Directors
- Plan details such as framing, composition, camera movement, sound, and actor movement for each shot or scene.
- Communicate to actors the approach, characterization, and movement needed for each scene in such a way that rehearsals and takes are minimized.
- Direct live broadcasts, films and recordings, or non-broadcast programming for public entertainment or education.
- Research production topics using the internet, video archives, and other informational sources.
News Analysts, Reporters, and Journalists
- Write commentaries, columns, or scripts, using computers.
- Coordinate and serve as an anchor on news broadcast programs.
- Examine news items of local, national, and international significance to determine topics to address, or obtain assignments from editorial staff members.
- Analyze and interpret news and information received from various sources to broadcast the information.
