Constitution Day Documentary Screening

Student Center 5 - 7:30 p.m.

Join us as we celebrate Constitution Day! The Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787, forming the United States of America. Constitution Day is marked on that date every year by schools and colleges across the country.

 

Activities on campus on September 17 will include a viewing of the documentary "Capturing the Flag: An Unexpected Story about American Democracy" from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center. All of the College community is welcome to join us for the viewing and lively discussion about protecting the democratic process. Dinner will be provided.

 

Other activities this week:

 

All this week (9/16-20), the College is hosting voter registration, absentee ballot requests, and an issues information table from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day  in the Library.

 

On Wednesday (9/18) at noon in the Student Center, "Leading the Way: An Insiders Panel on How to Run for Office." Student leaders of S.T.A.N.D. (Students Take Action and Negotiate Dialogue) will interview locally elected officials Shawna Black from Tompkins County and Kelly L. Preston from Cortland County about how they made their successful leap into politics. Open Q & A to follow. Lunch is provided.
